Stereoscopic era of motion pictures begins in the late 1890s
By Bob Rudy | July 27, 2007
The stereoscopic era of motion pictures begins in the late 1890s when British film pioneer William Friese-Greene files a patent for a 3-D movie process. In his patent, two films are projected side by side on screen. The viewer looked through a stereoscope to converge the two images. Because of the obtrusive mechanics behind this method, theatrical use was not practical.
Frederick Eugene Ives patented his stereo camera rig in 1900. The camera had two lenses coupled together 1 3/4 inches apart.
On June 10, 1915, Edwin S. Porter and William E. Waddell presented tests to an audience at the Astor Theater in New York City. In red-green anaglyph, the audience was presented three reels of tests, which included rural scenes, test shots of Marie Doro, a segment of John Mason playing a number of passages from Jim the Penman (a film released by Famous Players-Lasky that year, but not in 3-D), Oriental dancers, and a reel of footage of Niagara Falls.

Man-eating lions which would jump off the screen at you
By Bob Rudy | July 25, 2007
Movie studio executives worried that the new medium, television, would steal away their audiences.
What was required was a hook to bring people back into the movie theatre.
As the strippers sang in “Gypsy,” you gotta have a gimmick.Even though 3-D movies had been
around as far back as 1922 and had lost favor, it was decided to try again. Arch Oboler’s “Bwana Devil” started the 3-D craze of the Fifties.
It premiered on Nov. 26, 1952 and starred Robert Stack, Barbara Britton and Nigel Bruce. (see poster below)
An African adventure film (A Lion in Your Lap, A Lady in Your Arms!) about man-eating lions which would jump off the screen at you, it made for pretty exciting watching when the process worked right. People were issued glasses which facilitated the 3-D effect.

George Lucas is such a fan of the latest 3-D technology
By Bob Rudy | July 21, 2007
According to The Hollywood Reporter, George Lucas is such a fan of the latest 3-D technology that he is planning to remaster all of the Star Wars films for rerelease in 3-D.
Appearing as part of a sextet of high-profile directors promoting 3-D and digital cinema at ShoWest, Lucas said he hadn’t yet committed to a precise schedule but hoped to have the first film ready for the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie in 2007 and that he would then rerelease one Star Wars film per year in 3-D.
Lucas was joined by James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis, Robert Rodriguez and Randal Kleiser. Peter Jackson joined the group via a pretaped 3-D segment. They all implored the exhibition community to invest in digital projectors, which would allow theaters to show their upcoming movies in 3-D. Cameron is in preproduction on the 3-D film Battle Angel, planned for a 2007 release. Zemeckis has two 3-D features in production, and Rodriguez is readying The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D for release in the summer. Jackson, who is currently filming King Kong, announced no specific 3-D plans, but according to sources he has installed a 3-D master suite in his production offices in New Zealand.

The return of 3D?
March 23rd, 2007 by Dan in Technology, Directors, Box Office, Animation Â
For the past two years, every major movie studio has been complaining about diminishing box-office receipts due to illegal downloading, DVDs, etc. Although no studio has come up with any fail-safe way of luring movie patrons back into theaters, some are betting on — wait for it — 3D. Disney is selling tickets to its 3D presentation of Meet the Robinsons, with increased ticket prices now amounting to $10.00 for children and $13.00 for adults. There may be some teenage or adult audience members who will see a film they ordinarily wouldn’t…………

3d technology on Bobby Rinaldis’ hit series “Screw My Wife please in 3D”
By Bob Rudy | July 5, 2007
Reelinteractive uses anaglyphic 3d technology on Bobby Rinaldis’ hit series “Screw My Wife please in 3D” (an adult 3d dvd)
3D Stereoscopic glasses are nothing new. In fact you had them when you were
a kid and probably didn’t even know it. Remember the ViewMasterâ„¢ that showed
all the cool Disney characters in full 3d? The ViewMasterâ„¢ allowed you to look
at two pictures of the same thing taken from a slightly different view point and tricked your brain into seeing one 3d image.
In order to see things in 3D each eye must see a slightly different picture. This is done in the real world by your eyes being spaced apart so each eye has its own slightly different view. The brain then puts the two pictures together to form one 3D image that has depth to it.
A stereoscopic motion or still picture in which the right component of a composite
image usually red in color is superposed on the left component in a contrasting color
to produce a three-dimensional effect when viewed through correspondingly colored filters in the form of spectacles.
The mode of 3D presentation you are most familiar with are the paper glasses with red and blue lenses. The technology behind 3D, or stereoscopic, movies is actually pretty simple. They simply recreate the way humans see normally.

The 3D comes to life as if someone turned on a light
By Bob Rudy | July 1, 2007
A 3D film viewed without glasses is a very strange sight, resembling that hokey cartoon effect of a drunkard’s point of view.
The 3D Technology that Reelinteractive has implemented in its’ latest 3d adult entertainment project “Screw My Wife please in 3D” enables the viewer to practically watch the movie with out using the 3D blue and red glasses.
The image is surprising large, 1270 x 760, and very clear.
Once the viewer places the glasses on there face the 3D comes to life as if someone turned on a light.

Bobby Rinaldi - Adult 3d dvd that administers 3D technologies
By Bob Rudy | June 28, 2007
Producer / director Bobby Rinaldi of Wildlifexxx and Powerhouse productions had mentioned to me during our past conversation that he is very excited!
Bobby also noted how difficult a project like this can be…..We both agree that a project such as this adult 3d dvd, that administers 3D technologies, is much more difficult than an ordinary adult dvd. “Screw My Wife Please in 3d” has been a year in the making and there have been many snags along the way.
Reelinteractive and Widlife / Powerhouse Productions are both committed to excellence, even if it takes more time the innovative 3d quality is worth it………..
